Club Q shooter moved out of Colorado prison due to security concerns

Anderson Lee Aldrich was given five life sentences without the possibility of parole in the shooting that killed five and injured 17.

DENVER — The person who pleaded guilty in connection to the Nov. 22 shooting at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs that killed five and injured 22 was moved to an out-of-state prison.

The Colorado Department of Corrections said Anderson Lee Aldrich was transferred to the Wyoming State Penitentiary due to safety concerns.

Anderson Lee Aldrich pleaded guilty to five counts of murder and 46 counts of attempted murder. Aldrich also pleaded no contest to two counts of bias-motivated crimes, one a felony and the other a misdemeanor.

Aldrich was given five life sentences without the possibility of parole for murder and an additional 2,208 years for attempted murder to run consecutively. 

Daniel Aston, Kelly Loving, Ashley Paugh, Derrick Rump and Raymond Green lost their lives in the shooting. 

Last month it was announced that the nightclub will reopen in a new location.

The new venue will be known as The Q by Club Q and will be located inside the Satellite Hotel at 411 Lakewood Circle in southern Colorado Springs.
