Denver City Council takes first step in creating neighborhood in south parking lot of Broncos Stadium

The Denver City Council voted to adopt the Stadium District Master Plan, which is aimed at creating a mixed-use development in the Broncos Stadium parking lot.

DENVER — The Denver City Council voted Monday to adopt the Stadium District Master Plan, which is aimed at creating a new neighborhood hub where the south parking lots currently are at the Broncos Stadium.

The plan was inspired by the development surrounding Coors Field, according to a news release from Denver Community Planning and Development (CPD).

CPD says more than 1,300 residents, businesses and property owners in surrounding neighborhoods weighed in on the proposal, which was a collaboration between the Metropolitan Football Stadium District and Stadium Management Football Club – an affiliate of the Denver Broncos.

The mixed-use development would prioritize affordable housing, according to the news release, and emphasize accessibility by pedestrians and bicyclists.

According to CPD, the goal of the plan is also to have a festival street that can be used on game days.
