Denver man injured in port-a-potty prank

A man said he injured his back when someone tipped over the portable toilet he was using at Hallack Park in Denver.

DENVER — A Denver man believes he was the victim of a likely prank, that left him toppled over inside a portable toilet.

Stefano Chioetto said he was on his daily walk Thursday afternoon, when he stopped to use a port-a-potty at Hallack Park.

“I got in, and after a little while I felt the thing move,” said Chioetto. “I had no idea what was happening, I started shouting ‘Hey! Hey!’” And it just kept moving and it fell to the side.”

Chioetto said he was able to find the door and crawl out, as a man and his son got out of their car and ran over to help.

“He said ‘yeah, I think it was a couple of teenagers, we saw them, they pushed the portable potty on its side, and then ran away,’” said Chioetto.

He injured his back in the fall, and said he’s thankful he wasn’t hurt seriously.

He believes it was likely just a prank, but said the situation was no laughing matter.

“My message would be, imagine if you were inside the portable potty.” He said. “It may sound funny when you’re a kid, but it’s not when you’re the guy inside. It’s not funny at all.”

Denver Police did dispatch an officer to the scene, but Chioetto believes by that point the kids were long gone.

“Fortunately, it fell on its side, because if it had fallen on the front I wouldn’t have been able to open the door and get out.” He said. “It’s something that could have ended in a very un-funny way.”
