Crews battle early morning fire in Erie

No injuries were reported in the fire near the corner of Holbrook and Carr streets in Erie.

ERIE, Colo. — Crews from Mountain View Fire Rescue responded to a house fire early Thursday morning in Erie.

At about 2:45 a.m., crews initially responded to a report of a fire on Pierce Street, according to a post by Mountain View Fire on the social platform X. When police arrived, they found the fire was north of that location near the corner of Holbrook and Car streets, the fire department said.

When firefighters arrived, they found a garage and a vehicle were on fire and requested additional resources, Mountain View Fire said. Crews battled the fire as it spread through the backyard and onto the porch of the home, according to Mountain View Fire.

A downed powerline was blocking part of the garage which meant firefighters could not get water onto the flames in that area until power was cut from the live powerline, Mountain View Fire said. Xcel Energy crews disconnected the power and crews were able to get the flames out, Mountain View Fire said.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, according to Mountain View Fire. Investigators are trying to determine the cause and source of the fire.
