1 killed in 4-vehicle crash in Aurora

Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and East 22nd Avenue.

AURORA, Colo. — One person is dead after a four-vehicle crash in Aurora Friday night.

The Aurora Police Department said the crash near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and East 22nd Avenue was reported just before 9:30 p.m.

Police determined that a 49-year-old man in a Chevrolet Camaro was heading south on Airport Boulevard when he drove through a full road closure at East 22nd Avenue. He then went into the northbound lanes, crashing into three vehicles. He crashed head-on into one of the cars, a Volkswagen Jetta. The driver of the Jetta was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Camaro driver died at the scene. Police said traffic investigators are looking at intoxication as a possible contributing factor to the crash.

The name of the man who died will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office.
