KUSA — In celebration of World Book Day, we wanted to share something cool - - astronauts reading to kids from space.

Story Time From Space is a project of the Global Space Education Foundation, a Texas-based nonprofit. If you or your child loves space, or even if you don't, this is for you!

The first 5 books were sent to the International Space Station in 2014 aboard the "Orbital 1" resupply mission. As you might imagine, many of the books are space-themed.

Astronauts read the books aboard the ISS while being recorded. They're then uploaded to the Story Time From Space web site.

The books also have positive messages for young children-- such as Rosie Revere Engineer which is about a girl and her dream to become an engineer. It's read by Kate Rubins.

The Story Time From Space program was conceived by educator Patricia Tribe and NASA astronaut Alvin Drew. New books are being added. You can read more about the program here.
