Foul play suspected in missing woman case

WHEAT RIDGE – Police continue to investigate the disappearance of 44-year-old Shaida Ghaemi, who went missing more than eight weeks ago on September 9.

Authorities say they suspect foul play in the disappearance.

According to police, testing on suspected blood drops found in the hotel room are consistent with DNA samples submitted by the Ghaemi's family. The testing was conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators say it's unclear if a crime was committed. The amount of blood found in the couple's room, according to police, isn't shedding enough light on what may have happened in the room.

"The amount of blood isn't consistent with serious body injury. Quite frankly we don't know where she was bleeding from and why," said Detective Scott Junclause.

Members of Ghaemi's family reported her missing on September 11 and say it was very unusual for her to not contact them.

Arash Ghaemi says his while his mother did not have a steady home she is very good about staying in touch with family members.

"She usually calls every two or three days. We miss her, and need to find her," said Ghaemi.

Police say Ghaemi was a frequent visitor of the casinos in Black Hawk, but there is no indication that she has been seen there since her disappearance.

The family is offering a $2,000 reward for information that will lead police to her whereabouts.

Complicating the situation, Ghaemi says his mother's father is sick with cancer and has been given 8 months to live.

"Before he passes, he wants to know where his daughter is," said Ghaemi.

Police say Jude Peters does have a criminal history and are asking anyone with information to call the detective at 303-235-2957.
