Evidence of 'forced entry' found after fires at 2 Greenwood Village businesses

Two separate fires were reported Friday morning at The Shops at Greenwood Village retail center on Arapahoe Road.

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. — Police found signs of forced entry at two businesses in a Greenwood Village plaza where fires were reported early Friday morning.

Greenwood Village Police said they received a call at 3:52 a.m. about smoke coming from a building at The Shops at Greenwood Village located at 9636 E. Arapahoe Road. That business was identified as the Fuji Hibachi and Sushi restaurant.

Firefighters went inside and were able to control the fire in about 20 to 30 minutes, according to Eric Hurst with South Metro Fire Rescue.

A second fire was also reported at the Sportsbook Bar and Grill, which is located in the same plaza. The fire was brought under control, and there were no reports of injuries, according to Hurst.

While searching the businesses for any possible victims or suspects, officers located evidence of forced entry to the businesses. No suspects were located, Greenwood Village Police said.

According to police there is a joint investigation underway to determine the cause of the fires and locate anyone who might have been involved.
