1 injured in shooting at liquor store

Deputies are looking for a red Hyundai Sonata that was last seen leaving the scene of the shooting.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that injured one person Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened at a liquor store in the 1400 block of South Parker Road, according to a tweet from the sheriff's office. That's near South Parker Road and East Florida Avenue in unincorporated Arapahoe County.

Deputies reviewed security video and determined three people attempted to burglarize the store, according to Deputy John Bartmann with the sheriff's office. They were confronted by the store's owner, who was inside the store at the time, Bartmann said.

The suspects fired two shots, hitting the store's owner in the leg, according to Bartmann. The victim fired five shots in return, Bartmann said. It is unknown whether anyone was hit by those shots.

The three suspects left in a red Hyundai Sonata, Bartmann said.

The victim was transported to the hospital, the sheriff's office said.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office first tweeted about the shooting at 6:24 a.m.
