DENVER — A portrait of President Joe Biden was unveiled Friday at the Colorado State Capitol building in Denver.

The portrait will hang in the Capitol's rotunda alongside all 45 previous Presidents.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, Senate President Steve Fenberg (D-Boulder), House Speaker Julie McCluskie, and Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib were on hand for Friday's ceremony.

"Today, with the unveiling of President Biden’s portrait in Colorado’s Capitol, we are continuing a long tradition in our state," Polis said. "I have seen President Biden’s leadership firsthand, and he shares our goals of making Colorado, and our country, a better place now and for future generations. It was an honor to unveil his portrait today."

"The gallery of presidential portraits in our state Capitol building stands as a reminder of the story of our country’s past," Fenberg said. "With the addition of President Biden’s portrait, we are marking a new chapter in the story of our country’s history. Traditions like these add to the reverence of this building and make the Colorado Capitol a place I am proud to work in day after day."

"President Biden’s portrait will now join those of his predecessors in the Colorado Capitol," McCluskie said. "Over the past three years, this Administration and Colorado’s federal delegation have passed critical legislation like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act and the state stimulus package, which are helping Colorado build more housing, expand broadband, increase access to behavioral health, and save people money on health care.

"From my community on the Western Slope to towns and cities all across Colorado, the successes are far and wide and are addressing the most pressing issues we face."

"I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this historic unveiling. With the help of Governor Polis and our federal delegation, President Biden has kept Space Command in Colorado Springs, created thousands of jobs in our state, and designated Camp Hale a national monument," Murib said. "I can’t think of a better way to celebrate these accomplishments than by unveiling this amazing portrait."
