Colorado Rep. Ruby Dickson announces her resignation

Dickson is a Greenwood Village Democrat who was first elected to the House a year ago.

DENVER — State Rep. Ruby Dickson, a Greenwood Village Democrat who was first elected to the Colorado House just a year ago, announced on Friday that she will resign her seat effective Dec. 11.

She cited the legislature's "sensationalistic & vitriolic" environment and called it unhealthy for herself and her family.

Dickson had filed to run for reelection to her House District 37 seat last July. She won her 2022 contest by 12 percentage points.

At 27, she was the youngest member of the state legislature.
