DENVER — The Denver Post editor who led that newspaper's open rebellion against their hedge fund owners is gone.
Chuck Plunkett has resigned, according to colleagues.
Plunkett called out Alden Global Capital for cutting the newsroom to the bone while the Post was still profitable. He led the call for the Post to be sold to local owners who saw its value, which gained national attention.
According to an article on DenverPost.com, Plunkett called his last day at the paper, which he joined in 2003, a "terribly sad day."
Plunkett is the second editorial page editor to go, after the Boulder Daily Camera's Dave Krieger was fired when he also challenged the hedge fund in print.
