Juvenile in custody after deadly hit-and-run near Gaylord Rockies Hotel

Police say the young driver fled the scene of the crash that also injured several other people. The car was later found unoccupied several miles away.

AURORA, Colo. — One pedestrian was killed and at least two others were injured in a hit-and-run crash in the front entrance area of the new Gaylord Rockies hotel near Denver International Airport late Saturday night, police said.

According to Sgt. Mike Douglass with the Aurora Police Traffic Division, the crash occurred about 11:45 p.m. Saturday at 6700 N. Gaylord Rockies Boulevard. The involved vehicle fled the scene.

Levi Anthony Noles, 23, was declared dead on the scene, and at least two others were transported to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, he said.

The vehicle was found unoccupied several miles away from the scene of the crash, Douglass said.

A juvenile male suspected of driving that vehicle was taken into custody, Douglass said.

The boy appeared in court at the Adams County Justice Center at 1:30 p.m. Monday. His parents were by his side for the detention hearing.

The 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office charged him Friday with vehicular homicide, one count of hit-and-run resulting in death, one count of hit-and-run resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of hit-and-run resulting in bodily injury, and driving without a license.

The 16-year-old, who has not been identified because he is under 18, will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on July 17.

According to Douglass, this incident marks the 14th traffic death in Aurora in 2019.
