BOULDER - Boulder Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred in the 1400 block of Walnut Street.

It happened just before 9 p.m. and and Boulder police say it's possible a RTD bus was involved in the accident that killed the 62-year-old man, who has been identified as Charles Dial of Boulder.

"It would be reasonable connection for anyone to make, that possibly a RTD bus was involved," Boulder police spokesperson Kim Kobel said. "We are looking into that possibility."

Passers-by saw Dial lying near the south exit of the RTD bus terminal in the area of 14th and Walnut streets. They contacted an employee of RTD at the terminal to call for medical help.

Boulder police, Boulder Fire-Rescue and AMR ambulance personnel responded to the incident. Paramedics attempted CPR but were unable to revive the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson with RTD said the company is cooperating with police.

An autopsy has been completed, and the cause and manner of death will be released pending further investigation, according to a news release from the Boulder County Coroner.

The passers-by who initially reported the victim to RTD did not witness what happened and don't know how the man was injured. Police would like to speak with anyone who may have information about the case. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of the RTD bus terminal at 14th and Walnut streets between 8:30 and 9 p.m. on Thursday to contact them at 303-441-3333.
