If you do any shopping along the 16th Street Mall this holiday season, it's going to smell a little different than previous years.
A new smoking ban goes into effect Friday morning, meaning smokers will have to move at least 50 feet off the street if they want to light up.
City council passed the proposal back in October in an effort to make the mall area healthier.
The measure bans cigarettes, weed and vaping along the mile-long mall between Broadway and Chestnuts streets, but don't expect police to come down hard with tickets.
Before giving anyone a citation, smokers will be asked to move off the mall if they want to smoke.
If they don’t listen or give police flack, then smokers can expect to get a $100 ticket.
