Boulder Police say they got a call about a domestic dispute around 5:35 p.m. in the 2900 block of 18th Street on Monday.
When officers arrived, police say they found a 36-year-old woman dead inside the home, apparently stabbed to death.
Investigators arrested 45-year-old Alfred Michael Strauss on suspicion of murder in the first degree. He was taken to the Boulder County Jail.
Police believe there was a relationship between Strauss and the victim, but have no additional information.
Two children, ages 2 and 4, live in the home, but were not present at the time of the crime. They were taken into custody by Social Services.
