Even when Dr. Marie Whiteside decided to retire as a pediatrician, she knew she couldn’t give up on helping children and their parents. That’s why she chose to put her expertise to good use as a volunteer at Florence Crittenton Services.

Florence Crittenton operates a school for teen moms who are still pursuing their high school diplomas. The school has an on-campus nursery where moms know their babies will be taken care of ... especially since volunteers like Marie are there.

“She builds solid relationships by engaging with the mothers and their children in the classrooms,” wrote Carisma Player, of the Florence Crittenton Services Early Childhood Education Center.

Once a week, Marie volunteers in the nursery. She takes care of the babies and the mothers by offering advice and expertise. She’s also provided much-needed supplies for the nursery.

“We really appreciate everything Marie contributes to our families and our campus community,” said Player.
