BRIGHTON — A person was hit and killed by a train Saturday night in Brighton, according to Kristen South with Union Pacific Railroad.
The accident happened in the intersection of 124th Ave. and Highway 85.
South said the train was heading south toward Denver from Cheyenne.
A few hundred people were on the train when the accident happened.
The 844 train is part of Union Pacific's "Heritage" series. It's a steam locomotive that runs during Cheyenne Frontier Days.
The train will be at the accident site for a few hours while the crash is investigated.
Busses are being brought in to bring passengers to Denver, South said.
