Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will endorse Sen. Ted Cruz in Republican presidential contest, just days before Indiana's critical Tuesday primary.

Greg Garrison, who hosts a conservative talk radio show on 93-WIBC, said on Twitter that Pence will "be on w/ a significant announcement" on his program 12:06 p.m. today.

All three GOP presidential contenders have met privately with Pence in recent days as the Republican governor considers an endorsement in the race.

Cruz, a U.S. senator from Texas, told reporters in Indianapolis on Friday morning that he didn't know whether Pence would endorse, but he praised the governor's leadership.

Pence is probably most ideologically aligned with Cruz, who is facing a must-win situation in Indiana. The state represents perhaps his best shot to change the momentum of the race and prevent front-runner Donald Trump from securing enough delegates to win the nomination outright.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced Sunday he would abandon his campaign in Indiana to focus on western states where he is expected to perform better. Cruz has said he would not campaign in Oregon or New Mexico in exchange. The partnership quickly frayed, though, after Kasich encouraged Hoosiers to still vote for him and Cruz told reporters there "is no alliance."

Trump was leading Cruz in two Indiana polls last week, but Pence has publicly criticized Trump after he called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States and after he suggested women should be punished for seeking illegal abortions.
