Commentary: All-Star crossover between NBA, WNBA lived up to the hype

"Great shooters are fun to watch, no matter if you're a man or a woman."

DENVER — NBA All-Star weekend is my favorite All-Star experience out of the four major pro sports, and last night made me love it even more.

The NBA held its first-ever 3-point shooting contest between an NBA player and WNBA player. Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry, the greatest shooter ever, and Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty squared off in a one-round shootout.

Steph won by three points but it was so entertaining. The crowd was really into it, and it lived up to the hype.

Seeing two of the best athletes from their respective leagues play a competitive round was entertaining, but it was also important. Seeing Steph and Sabrina go toe-to-toe just shows people that WNBA players are just as skilled as NBA players.

I think they should do this every year — maybe even have NBA and WNBA players square off in the skills challenge, too.

Great shooters are fun to watch, no matter if you're a man or a woman. As long as that net swishes and you can see the competitive fire in each person, sign me up.
