Where to celebrate the Rockies home opener near Coors Field

Several Denver businesses are celebrating the start of the baseball season with deals and special menus.

DENVER — Rockies baseball is back on Blake Street with the team's home opener on Friday.

The annual Colorado holiday won't just be a party inside the ballpark as many Denver restaurants are celebrating with their own deals, special menus and weekend celebrations.

Here's where you can soak in the sights, smells and tastes of the Rockies' first home game.

Citizen Rail

Citizen Rail is bringing back its fourth annual Opening Day Cookout.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, those downtown celebrating can enjoy brats with purple sauerkraut for $10 and a special purple cocktail called the Walk Off Wonder for $14. Canned beer will also be available.

Jax Fish House

Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar LoDo, located just blocks from Coors Field, will open early at 11 a.m. Friday to serve in-house specials.

A specialty menu will be offered throughout the season for Rockies home game days, including a gumbo-topped hot dog; Jax Sea Dog, a kosher dog with Jax mustard, hot sauce and crab meat; crab cake sliders; sweet potato chips and house chips; deep-fried Jax peanuts; as well as a Purple Wave Cocktail featuring Roaring Fork Vodka, Curaçao, hibiscus, lemon and soda.

Jovanina’s Broken Italian

Jovanina's Broken Italian offers wood-fired pizza, with gluten-free dough available, fresh pasta, including Elk Bolognese and Black Trumpet Mushroom Gnocchetti.

Drink specials include a wine flight, available every Tuesday through Thursday.

Kachina Cantina

Located just a block away from Coors Field, Kachina Cantina will open early at 10 a.m. Friday and provide an extensive list of Opening Day specials.

Special offerings will include Ford's Gin Spritz, Odell Rotating Draft; “double double” pairings including two Jack Daniel's canned cocktails and chicharrónes; two frozen margaritas and a Mexican shrimp cocktail; or a frozen margarita and a Mexican shrimp cocktail – as well as more grab-n-go specials from the Kachina Cantina airstream.

Additionally, Kachina invites guests to indulge with the Margarita on the Rockies — a purple margarita featuring butterfly tea-infused tequila, agave syrup and fresh lime juice, available all season.

Poka Lola Social Club

Poka Lola Social Club, located down the street from Coors Field, offers “home run” drink specials, live music and a photo booth on Friday.

Starting at 1:30 p.m., fans can enjoy Opening Day cocktail and drink specials, such as Sweet Spot, Outfielder, Spittin Seeds, Butterfly Shot, 12-ounce Montucky Cold Snacks and American Lager. Sip on these cocktail delights while enjoying game day activations in the Dairy Block Alley.

Tom's Watch Bar

The official bar of Colorado Rockies, Tom's Watch Bar, is located across the street from Coors Field in McGregor Square.

Water Grill

Located half a mile from Coors Field, Water Grill offers a menu of pre- and post-game day bites and drinks.

Game day bites include Atlantic Cod fish tacos; bacon cheddar cheeseburger; New England lobster roll; wild Icelandic cod fish and chips. Drink specials include the Rosewood, made with Botanist gin, limoncello, lime and tonic with rosemary and grapefruit essence; Margarita Verde, featuring silver tequila, agave, lime cucumber, basil and jalapeño with a chile salt rim and more, as well as an extensive list of beer and wine and several non-alcoholic mocktails.
