Former Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver dies at 23

COMMERCE, Texas — Texas A&M University-Commerce football player Keith Miller has died at age 23, the university said Friday.

"Miller passed away tragically in his apartment near campus on Thursday evening. The entire Lion community sends its deepest sympathy to Keith's family, friends and teammates," said a Texas A&M University-Commerce statement.

Playing the wide receiver position, Miller was a two-year member of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Lion football program and served as a team captain in the 2023 season.

"We are heartbroken by Keith's unexpected passing," said Clint Dolezel, Texas A&M University-Commerce head coach. "Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate and student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved him at this very difficult time."

Texas A&M University-Commerce said it has expanded services to students needing guidance or support.

"We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Keith Miller. The A&M-Commerce community extends its deepest condolences to Keith's family and those who knew and loved him," said Jim Curry, athletics director at Texas A&M University-Commerce. "Words are hard to come by at this moment, but we ask that you keep those impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers."

Miller was a member of the football team at the University of Colorado for two seasons. 

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Buff, Keith Miller," the Colorado football program said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates."
