It pays to go first.

Noah Fant, the Broncos’ first-round tight end, will not only receive a signing bonus of nearly $7.2 million as the No. 20 overall draft pick, but he will also receive a 100 percent guaranteed, four-year contract worth approximately $12.5 million.

Second-round draft picks Dalton Risner and Drew Lock will have their first two years fully guaranteed.

Risner, a guard and the No. 41 pick in the second round will receive a four-year, $5,734,388 contract – a $3,214,388 signing bonus plus four years of combined minimum salaries of $2.52 million ($495,000 in 2019; $585,000 in 2020; $675,000 in 2021; $765,000 in 2022).

That will buy a lot of chicken tenders at Stub’s Gas & Oil in Wiggins.

Lock will make slightly less – a four-year deal worth $5,638,776 – that includes a $3,118,776 signing bonus.

A look at the signing bonuses slotted for the Broncos’ six draft picks:
