The intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Grant Street closed Monday afternoon after a person riding a moped was seriously injured in a crash with a vehicle.
The person driving that vehicle, according to Denver Police, tried to escape from the back of a patrol car where he was being questioned.
Denver Police first tweeted about the crash at 1:20 p.m. The intersection was closed for around an hour-and-a-half.
What caused the wreck is under investigation.
This came shortly after a separate motorcycle crash forced authorities to close northbound Interstate 25 at Broadway, causing significant backups in the area as drivers sought alternate routes.
Temperatures on Monday soared to the 80s.
