Arrest made by Adams County Sheriff's Office in October 2019 hit and run death

Adams County Sheriff's Office arrested David Lane Allen, 22, for a hit and run death that occurred in October 2019 that killed Garrett Arnold .

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — An arrest has been made by Adams County Sheriff's Office detectives a hit-and-run accident that killed Garrett Arnold in October 2019 near Strasburg, Colorado.

Police said the accident occurred around East 104th Avenue and Headlight Road on Oct. 12, 2019, at approximately 4:40 a.m.

Deputies responded to 911 calls reporting an adult male in the roadway who appeared to be unconscious and unresponsive. The deputies determined that the man was deceased and had been struck by a car. 

David Lane Allen, 22, of Strasburg, was taken into custody by police the same day and he was released pending further investigation. 

Detectives conducted an extensive investigation with the assistance of investigators from Colorado State Patrol and recently concluded that investigation and an arrest warrant was issued for Allen. 

Allen surrendered to deputies at the Adams County Detention Facility on Thursday.

Allen is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, a class 3 felony. The defendant was held on a $20,000 cash bond.
