DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: Meteorologist Kathy Sabine, Keely Chalmers
TODAY AT A GLANCE: Active weather is moving across the state this afternoon as temperatures climb into the 70s. We are following the potential for severe weather across the Eastern Plains. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Cheyenne, Washington, Kit Carson, Yuma and Phillips counties until 9:00 tonight. The active weather moving across the state is producing an increase in clouds with showers and possible thunderstorms across the I-25 corridor. A few storms might reach severe levels with gusty winds, hail and maybe even a tornado or two into the evening hours. Again, the area most at risk includes counties across northeastern portions of the state.
Light snow could be found at higher elevations above 9000 feet tonight into tomorrow morning. Then another surge of moisture and cooler air moves in with light to moderate snow for the high country above 10,000 feet and a good chance for showers and storms at lower elevations through the weekend.
By Monday, we’ll begin to warm up and dry out. We look to warm into the 80s by the middle of next week!
TODAY: Increasing clouds with scattered showers and storms, severe weather east, still mild: high 76; showers and a possible storm tonight, low 49.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy with showers and isolated storms, high 67; showers and scattered storms overnight, low 43.
