Clouds increase Tuesday with a chance for late-day storms

A cold front drops through the state Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures and a greater chance for showers and storms.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: Ed Greene

TODAY AT A GLANCE: Clouds increase today with a better chance for late day showers and storms. A cold front drops through the state tomorrow bringing cooler temperatures and a greater chance for showers and storms.

Seasonal weather returns Thursday with drier conditions as we head for the warmest temperatures so far this year on Saturday.

Today could be the warmest day of their month, so far, with a high of 77, but showers and storms will develop as the day goes on.

On Wednesday, a cold front drops through the area bringing a northerly flow over the state cooling our high temperatures and bringing a better chance for showers and storms. Snow levels for the mountains will drop down to around 9500 feet but with only light accumulations.

As this system moves east, drier and warmer air moves in behind it. A high pressure ridge then builds into the area warming our highs into the lower 80s on Friday and Saturday. The predicted high of 83 on Saturday will be the warmest day of the year so far. Scattered late storms are back in the forecast Sunday and Monday with slightly cooler - but still mild - high temperatures.
