DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: Ed Greene

TODAY AT A GLANCE:  Look for rain showers and scattered storms at lower elevations with possible significant snow for the mountains. Speaking of snow in the mountains, a Winter Weather Advisory and a Winter Storm Watch have been issued for this evening through early Sunday morning with up to a foot and a half of new snow possible above 9000 feet.

Our second system will begin to move in bringing cooler and much wetter conditions to lower elevations with widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms, some with heavy rains, that will continue through the weekend.

Then by Monday and into next week, a high pressure ridge will build into the area with highs warming back into the 70s. Conditions should remain fair until about midweek when scattered showers and a few storms work their way back into the forecast.
