Sunday's lightning kept firefighters across the Denver Metro Area busy

Severe weather blew through the Front Range bringing plenty of lightning with it.

The weekend ended with storms that brought a lot of lightning, wind and hail to the Front Range and Denver metro area Sunday evening.  

Hundreds of strikes were picked up on the radar and some were blamed for starting fires.

Foothills Fire Department said it had calls for two different fires in Jefferson County within minutes of each other -- both started by lightning.

Crews were able to quickly get both under control.

Franktown Fire also tweeted pictures of a house under construction that caught fire after it was hit by lightning.
