DENVER — A beloved Christmas tale, a new take on a Jane Austen classic, and the world premiere of a new musical are among the highlights of DCPA Theatre Company's 2020/21 season.

The new season from the DCPA Theatre Company, the producing regional theatre arm of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA), kicks off Sept. 18 with a production of Angry, Raucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous.

The company's beloved production of A Christmas Carol returns Nov. 25, after a one-year absence, at the newly-renovated Wolf Theatre.

The 2020/21 season will have nine main-stage productions, including the world premiere of the musical Rattlesnake Kate by Colorado’s Neyla Pekarek, a former member of the Grammy-nominated folk band The Lumineers.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, the company’s first Edward Albee production in over 20 years, will open April 2, 2021 at the Jones Theatre, while a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma opens April 23, 2021 at the Wolfe Theatre.

Tickets for the 2020/21 Theatre Company season are available now for renewing subscribers at DenverCenter.org/TheatreCompany or by calling 303-893-6030.

A public on-sale date will be announced at a later time.

"I love that this season brings American classics back into the mix, that several of these stories give us an opportunity to speak immediately to the moment we are living in, and that we continue stretching our relationships across this region,” said DCPA Artistic Director Chris Coleman. “And, of course, I’m personally excited to be part of the team that is bringing a new musical about a Colorado legend to life here at the Denver Center."

The Broadway adaptation of Harper’s Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird will also visit Denver next year.

The new play, based on the classic novel, will be performed at Denver's Ellie Caulkins Opera House from July 13 to Aug. 1, 2021 and will be included in DCPA Theatre Company subscriptions.

The stage adaption, written by playwright Aaron Sorkin, will be directed by Bartlett Sher and star Emmy-Award winner Richard Thomas in the role of Atticus Finch.
