Smash Mouth lead singer freaks out in FoCo

Hey now, you're an all-star … unless you throw bread at the lead singer of Smash Mouth, apparently. Then, you just have the "shape of an L on your forehead."
Steve Harwell, lead vocalist for Smash Mouth, performs at Taste of Fort Collins Sunday. Harwell reportedly lost his temper when fans started throwing slices of bread in the air.

FORT COLLINS – Hey now, you're an all-star … unless you throw bread in the vicinity of the lead singer of Smash Mouth, apparently. Then, you just have the "shape of an L on your forehead."

The lead singer of the popular 1990s to early 2000s band started yelling profanities at the crowd while headlining Taste of Fort Collins Sunday night.Their offense? Throwing bread (which isn't cool). The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports that some of those ill-fated slices landed on the stage mid-set.

And Smash Mouth vocalist Steve Harwell just was not having it.

COLORADOAN: Smash Mouth singer flips out at Taste of Fort Collins

Some of the exchange was caught on video. You can watch it here: http://bit.ly/1L9pEvs (WARNING: This video contains foul language)

Harwell had to be restrained by a security guard. Luckily, peace was restored after the bass player broke into "All Star" – prompting the crowd and later Harwell to do the same (that's also according to the Coloradoan).

The bread was being given away by one of the vendors at the family-friendly festival. It's not clear why people started throwing it in the first place.

And though it's an incident Smash Mouth may want to forget, lots of people have been tweeting about it:

And since we know you're singing it to yourself, here's "All Star."
