A bunch of local cops are making lip sync videos and we’re here for it

Take a break, and enjoy some of Colorado's real-lfe heroes dancing like ... real-life heroes.

The Greenwood Village Police Department brought Michael Jackson back to life.

KUSA — It’s important to remember that the world is full of beautiful surprises, like sunrises, butterflies, smiling babies … and well-rehearsed lip sync videos by local governmental agencies.

In a phenomena that future historians may refer to as “peak internet,” police departments across the country are challenging each other to make lip sync videos. This trend has now reached Colorado.

We will begin today’s journey with a video from the Greenwood Village Police Department – specifically, a group called the “Public Safety Brothers” – who, rather than performing the Blues Brothers like you might assume, made the iconic choice of lip syncing to Michael Jackson.

The City of Lone Tree, never one to back off from a challenge, then posted their own video … with additional production value and one guy who looks like he does not want to be there.

From here, things took an interesting turn in the replies. Specifically, 18th Judicial District Attorney George Brauchler took the situation in a different direction with a GIF he maybe has on-hand for situations like this ...?

For what it’s worth, Brauchler’s opponent in the Colorado attorney general race, Phil Weiser, has not yet posted a lip sync video or two-second GIF of him jigging. If he does, it will be included in this article.

Speaking of drama … the Greenwood Village Police Department referred to the city of Lone Tree as their “bestie." How do other nearby municipalities such as Centennial or Littleton feel about this?

Meanwhile, as you can see, Lone Tree challenged multiple other jurisdictions to take part in the challenge. This story will be updated if and when that occurs. There is no timeline for when that could be.

Of course, Colorado State Patrol was ahead of the curve, and posted a July 3 Kelly Clarkson lip sync in tribute to the fact she actually loves Trooper Josh Lewis.

Of course, one would be remiss to write about police departments without talking about our friends across the border. Some would call them our best friends, but unlike the city of Lone Tree, we don’t play favorites.

With that being said, the Cheyenne Police Department – who we’ve only written about three times – has opted out of the challenge since like true innovators, they forge their own path. This story will be updated should that situation change.

But speaking of friends across the border, Nebraska State Patrol listened to the opposite of Kelly Clarkson: Disturbed. Is Nebraska's State Patrol edgier than Colorado's State Patrol? Is edgy in the eye of the beholder? Discuss.
