DENVER — The George Schleier Mansion in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood will be welcoming overnight guests later this year.
Urban Cowboy Hotels, a hospitality company with properties in New York and Tennessee, has been busy renovating the George Schleier Mansion at 1665 Grant St. into a hotel with 16 rooms, a bar and restaurant.
The renovation included turning the former two-story carriage house into Urban Cowboy’s own Public House bar and restaurant, which will feature cocktails, wood-fired pizzas and other menu items from Roberta’s, a Brooklyn-based restaurant. A separate Parlor Bar will serve wine in the main mansion.
Urban Cowboy co-founders Lyon Porter and Jersey Banks worked with GBX Group and Historic Denver on the conversion of the historic property into a hotel. GBX Group, based in Ohio, is no stranger to historic preservation redevelopment, as the firm also worked on the transformation of Tom’s Diner into Tom’s Starlight. GBX Group acquired the George Schleier Mansion in 2021, according to property records.
