Carjacking suspect detained after fatal crash in Aurora, police say

The crash happened Sunday in the area of Dayton Street and 19th Avenue.

AURORA, Colo. — A carjacking suspect has been detained after colliding with another car, killing the driver, while trying to elude officers in Aurora, police said.

The Aurora Police Department said the armed carjacking happened around 7 p.m. Sunday in the area of 23rd Avenue and Dallas Street. With the help of the victim, officers quickly found the stolen car. Officers tried to stop the suspect, but the suspect sped away, police said, and collided with another car in the area of 19th Avenue and Dayton Street. The driver of the other car was killed.

Police said the suspect was detained. 

Roads in the area were closed while police investigated.
