Man shot and killed near park behind Manual High School identified

Denver Police said the shooting happened near the 2900 block of Gilpin Street. The Denver Medical Examiner's Office said the man died from multiple gunshot wounds.

DENVER — The Denver Medical Examiner's Office identified on Thursday a man who was shot and killed in the Whittier neighborhood Saturday evening.

Marvin McCullough, 37, died from multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide, the medical examiner's office said.

Denver Police said the shooting happened near the 2900 block of Gilpin Street a few minutes before 7 p.m. Saturday, March 30. That location is near Fuller Park which is behind Manual High School.

The man was rushed to a hospital but died shortly after arriving, police said.

Investigators said they are working to come up with a description of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
