Drunk driver crash leaves Mexican restaurant 'uninhabitable,' sheriff's office says

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said a "highly intoxicated" driver crashed into El Señor Sol early Saturday morning.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. — A Mexican restaurant in Centennial is "uninhabitable" after an alleged drunk driver crashed into it in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

A driver crashed into El Señor Sol Mexican Food, located at 6651 S. University Blvd., at 2:30 a.m. The sheriff's office said the building needs major repairs now, and that the crash caused a gas leak after the car hit a natural gas line in the kitchen.

The driver, a 39-year-old man, was "highly intoxicated" and had open bottles of beer and liquor inside his car, the sheriff's office said. A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said the driver was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

The man was cited for DUI and careless driving, according to the spokesperson.
