Suspect in Glendale homicide turns himself in

The suspect turned himself in Friday to Glendale Police in the April 5 death of Gianni Fernandez. A second man was injured in the shooting.

GLENDALE, Colo. — A second suspect wanted in connection to a fatal shooting in Glendale is in custody.

Caleb Choice, 22, turned himself in at the Glendale Police Department on Friday, according to police.

Around 3 a.m. April 5, officers responded to a report of shots fired in an apartment at 4701 E. Mississippi Ave., a few blocks east of Colorado Boulevard.

The victim, 20-year-old Gianni Fernandez, was pronounced dead at the scene, and another man was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

After the shooting, police released photos of three people they said were possibly involved. One person, identified as 21-year-old Sarah Sandoval, was invited to the complex by the victim. She was later seen opening a security gate to allow two men to enter the complex, police said.

At 2:59 a.m., Sandoval and two men were seen fleeing the complex. One of the two men was later identified as Choice, according to police.
