Man shot by officers in LoDo shooting that injured 6 bystanders pleads guilty

Jordan Waddy pleaded guilty Friday morning to a weapons charge related to the July 17, 2022 shooting.

DENVER — The man who Denver officers shot after he pointed a gun at them in LoDo in a shooting that resulted in multiple bystanders being injured pleaded guilty in Denver District Court Friday morning.

Jordan Waddy, now 23, pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to commit possession of a weapon by a previous offender, which was an added count. Four other counts against him were dismissed as a result of the deal.

Six bystanders were wounded when three officers fired a total of seven rounds at Waddy in the early morning hours of July 17, 2022.

Before the shots were fired, Denver Police said, officers saw a physical altercation beginning between two men in front of the Larimer Beer Hall. One of the men, later identified as Waddy, was the "aggressor" and struck another man, DPD said. That officer also reported that Waddy had a gun.

Body camera video shows officers walking along Larimer Street. Police say they tried to stop Waddy, who walks onto Larimer Street. He takes his hands out of his pockets and puts them in the air as he walks back onto the sidewalk. Waddy walks toward the crowd gathered outside Larimer Beer Hall and away from officers.

DPD said Waddy then pointed a gun at three officers, who each fired at him. One officer fired four rounds and the other fired twice, DPD said.

Last January, a grand jury returned a 14-count indictment against Brandon Ramos, one of the officers who fired at Waddy. The charges include eight counts of assault. He has pleaded not guilty and is set for trial next month.

Waddy faces 15 to 36 months behind bars which would run concurrent to any sentence he receives related to a separate pending case in Arapahoe County. He's set for sentencing on Jan. 30 at 9 a.m.
