Man driving 135 mph before deadly hit-and-run crash sentenced to 30 years in prison

Tyler White was sentenced Friday for the October 2016 murder of Ariel Berryman.

DENVER — A 27-year-old man will spend 30 years in prison for a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman in October 2016, the Denver District Attorney's Office said.

Tyler White pleaded guilty in April of this year to second-degree murder and menacing for the murder of Ariel Berryman, 28.

On October 10, 2016, White drove his Dodge Challenger 135 miles per hour on Colorado Boulevard near Interstate 25 -- causing a four-vehicle crash that killed Berryman, the DA's office said. The speed limit for that stretch of road is 35 miles per hour.

White then fled the scene on foot, but was spotted a few hours later at City Park when two fishermen observed him dancing naked in the park’s lake. Denver police responded to the scene and arrested him.

As part of his sentencing, White also agreed to pay $9,500 in restitution.
