Man falsely claiming to be former Denver Broncos player arrested for allegedly defrauding Castle Rock woman

A 49-year-old man from Highlands Ranch who police said defrauded a Castle Rock woman out of large sum of money had falsely claimed to be a former Denver Broncos football player on multiple occasions.

A 49-year-old man who police arrested in October for an alleged sexual assault has been arrested in a separate case for allegedly defrauding a woman out of large amount of money, the Castle Rock Police Department said in a release.

James Otis Turner was arrested Dec. 28 in relation to an Oct. 16 incident where a Castle Rock resident told police she had been defrauded out of large sum of money by a man who claimed to be former Denver Broncos player Dante Sir Foster.

Further investigation revealed that the imposter was actually Turner, and that he had no affiliation with the Denver Broncos or the National Football League, police said.

An arrest warrant for Turner recommends he be charged with theft, forgery, identity theft and criminal impersonation – all of which are felony charges, the release said.

Turner also faces a charge of sexual assault in connection to a separate incident that happened in July. A woman in Arapahoe County told law enforcement that she had been sexually assaulted by a man claiming to be an active player with the Broncos.

In that incident, investigators were able to confirm that the information he had provided the woman was fraudulent and that no Denver Broncos players were involved.

Police said several other women have come forward to say Turner had also falsely identified himself to them as a Denver Bronco.

In his most recent arrest, Turner was taken to the Douglas County Jail. He has since been released on bond, police said.
