DENVER — A man will spend more than a decade in prison for his role in an armed double carjacking that began in a Whole Foods parking lot in Cherry Creek last year.

A Denver District Court judge sentenced 20-year-old Jurdon Bryant-Beasley to 13 years in prison Friday, court records show.

Earlier this year, Bryant-Beasley pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery - confederate menacing with a weapon. Other charges he faced in connection to the violent carjacking were dropped as part of a plea agreement.

On Jan. 23, 2023, Denver Police officers responded to a reported robbery in a parking lot at East 2nd Avenue and University Boulevard. Two victims told police that a group of men surrounded their car as they were parking and demanded they get out. Both victims were pulled out of the car at gunpoint and struck in the head with pistols.

The District Attorney's Office said the men stole the victims' car and drove off. Police followed the stolen car to 17th Avenue and Willow Street, where prosecutors said several men tried to carjack another vehicle.

Officers then arrested six people, including Bryant-Beasley, who was 19 years old at the time. Two of the six people arrested were juveniles.
