Pedestrian killed in crash, driver leaves scene, police say

A man was found dead in the 2900 block of East 120th Avenue Sunday morning, police said.

THORNTON, Colo. — Thornton Police are looking for a driver who left the scene of a crash that killed a pedestrian Sunday morning.

Police said at 6:43 a.m. that westbound lanes in the 2900 block of East 120th Avenue were closed between Steele Street and Claude Court while officers investigated after a man was found dead.

The driver left the scene of the crash, and police were working to develop suspect information. Police said they're looking for a gray car with front end damage.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated.

The victim's name has not been released.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
