COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A 15-year-old girl who was missing from Colorado Springs was found safe, said the Colorado Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday morning.

The girl was described as an Indigenous girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She's 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, according to the CBI Missing Indigenous Person Alert sent out Thursday evening.

The State of Colorado started issuing Missing Indigenous Person Alerts (MIPA) in January 2023 after a bill was signed into law in 2022.

SB 22-150 expanded the investigation into cases of missing and murdered Indigenous people, and created the MIPA through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to remove the name and photo of the girl after she was found safe.
