Lauren Boebert facing 2nd challenge from Adam Frisch after narrow victory

The businessman, who ran as a Democrat, lost by just 546 votes against Boebert in the House race for Colorado's 3rd Congressional District.

DENVER — Adam Frisch is not wasting time after nearly upsetting Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert in the race for Colorado's 3rd Congressional District last November, announcing he's running for her seat again in 2024.

The businessman, who ran as a Democrat, lost by just 546 votes against the incumbent congresswoman. It was the closest congressional race in last year's election cycle.

The Colorado Secretary of State's Office recorded the final vote tally:

  • Boebert - 163,839 votes (50.08%)
  • Frisch - 163,293 votes (49.92%)

Both will have to make it through their respective primary elections before officially facing off for a second time. It remains to be seen if either will face challengers.

Boebert defeated State Senator Don Coram in the 2022 Republican primary. In the Democratic primary, Frisch defeated Sol Sandoval, an activist from Pueblo, and Alex Walker, a first-time candidate from Eagle County.

Boebert established herself as a national lightning rod in her first term, assailing inflation, crime, U.S. dependency on foreign oil and U.S. border policy under President Joe Biden’s watch. Her midterm election prospects in Colorado's mostly rural 3rd Congressional District seemed boosted by redistricting that made the district more Republican.

A first-term representative, Boebert is a divisive national figure for her conspiratorial rhetoric and provocative social media style. She’s a fervent supporter of gun rights and was the owner of a restaurant in Rifle, now closed, where the staff open-carried firearms.

Frisch is a former member of the Aspen City Council. He has downplayed his party affiliation in this largely rural and conservative-leaning district and instead has called himself a “conservative businessman.”
