JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) said a 74-year-old woman who was reported missing after taking her husband to the airport has been found safe.

The sheriff's office sent out an alert Thursday morning asking the public to be on the lookout for the woman, who they said has cognitive impairment. They said she had dropped her husband off at Denver International Airport around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and never returned home to Genesee.

Her credit card was used in Golden around 3 p.m., and her vehicle was spotted by a license plate reader in the area of Interstate 70 and Kipling Parkway.

The sheriff's office said Thursday evening that she has been found safe and is back in the care of family members. They said another driver saw the alert and called police when they spotted her car.
