KUSA - The Dumb Friends League is known as a place where anyone can take an injured dog, or a homeless cat, or anything in between.
But there have been a few circumstances where the Dumb Friends League has taken in more than just a few animals.
One example, an overwhelmed breeder in Ordway, Colorado, surrendered 142 dogs after failing a state inspection in August.
It was all hands on deck at the Dumb Friends League after crews drove 300 miles to retrieve 142 dogs with a long list of needs.
After the dogs arrived in Denver, staff and volunteers worked overnight to vaccinate, examine, and comfort each one of them.
Manny needed grooming. Some needed dental surgery. Others needed other vet care and behavior training.
All of the dogs up for adoption were able to find homes through the Dumb Friends League.
