DMac is back: Longtime Denver sports radio host has a new radio home

Darren "DMac" McKee has landed a new home on the FM dial, joining Tyler Polumbus and Scott Hastings at Altitude Sports Radio.

DENVER — A voice of Colorado sports radio for decades is back behind the microphone.

Darren "DMac" McKee will join Altitude Sports Radio 92.5 FM starting Wednesday afternoon.

McKee will be joined by former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Tyler Polumbus and former Denver Nuggets player and longtime team broadcaster Scott Hastings, on the "P.H.D." show on the Denver radio station.

The mid-day sports talk show will air weekdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Nov. 1.

A radio broadcaster of 36 years with the last 24 spent in Colorado, McKee was one of four radio personalities let go by Denver sports radio station KKFN-FM 104.3 The Fan in September.

Former Broncos offensive lineman Orlando Franklin, former Broncos tight end Nate Jackson, and 15-year NFL veteran and Colorado Buffalo Chad Brown were also let go from 104.3 The Fan in September.

"I’m so excited to be joining a station that has a long history of covering all the region’s sports teams," McKee said. "With Altitude Radio being the Official Home of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids, and Colorado Mammoth I’ll have an opportunity to cover championship teams at the top of their games.  Just like all Denver fans, I couldn’t be more excited by the prospects of this season."

"We are excited to add Darren to our new and improved midday P.H.D. Show," said KSE Radio’s SVP & GM Dave Fleck.

"He is a respected member of the community whose work ethic and passion for broadcasting will help take our radio stations to new heights.  Having DMac as part of Altitude Sports Radio allows us to reconfigure our daily lineup while adding a great voice to the station."

McKee will be reunited with Polumbus, his former radio partner at 104.3 The Fan. A former Colorado Buffaloes team captain and Cherry Creek High School graduate, Polumbus joined Altitude Sports Radio in October 2022.

Polumbus, who has organized the "Pedal with Polumbus to Beat Ovarian Cancer" charity bicycle event since 2020, played for the Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons in his eight-year NFL career.
