The Eagles, who are the No. 7 seed in the Class 5A boys basketball playoff bracket, knocked off No. 10 Thomas Jefferson on their home court Saturday afternoon, defeating the Spartans 71-45 in the Sweet 16.
The victory gives Dakota Ridge its first Great Eight appearance since 2004. The Eagles will face No. 2 Mesa Ridge on Thursday.
Highlighting the Eagles' performance Saturday was an impressive 3/4 court shot from senior guard Alex Rodriguez, who beat the first-quarter buzzer to send the Eagles' fans into a frenzy.
