On this day in sports: Wyoming basketball wins national championship

On March 30, 1943 the Cowboys men's basketball team found itself on top of the sports world.

NEW YORK — 77 years ago, the sports world belonged to Wyoming. 

Playing in Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Cowboys men's basketball team beat Georgetown 46-34 to win the national championship. 

Wyoming finished its season 32-2, despite playing just nine home games. The Pokes became the first team in the Rocky Mountain region to win the basketball national title.
