A former Mexican police officer who was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her home while her 1-year-old son was there – and trying to force his way into another unit in the same condominium complex – has been found guilty on all counts.
Ricardo Corral-Venegas, 25, was arrested Oct. 13, 2016 after he tried to get inside of an Aurora apartment under the auspices of “getting a glass of water.” According to the arrest report, Corral-Venegas asked the 18-year-old woman who answered the door that day if her parents or “her man” was home, and when she said no, he tried to force himself inside.
He was arrested at a nearby restaurant a short time later. Police found a Dollar Tree shopping bag with zip ties in it, and a large kitchen knife with a metallic handle near his discarded hat and sunglasses outside the condominium complex.
These items tied him to a violent incident that happened just a few days before, on Oct. 4, 2016, when Aurora Police say Corral-Venegas knocked on a woman’s door, asked “if her man was home” and then forced his way inside, despite the victim’s efforts to close the door.
Court records say Corral-Venegas tackled the woman to the floor, pulled a butcher knife from his waistband and told her to shut up when she started screaming.
The victim was forced to give Corral-Venegas her credit cards and that he started inappropriately touching her as she was standing in the hallway with her 1-year-old son.
According to the affidavit, Corral-Venegas told the victim to put her baby down and sexually assaulted her. He then instructed her to go to the bathroom to wash herself.
Police believe Corral-Venegas produced a bag of zip ties and threatened to kill the victim and her son if she called police, records say. He eventually left, but didn’t take her credit cards.
His whereabouts were a mystery until the second incident on Oct. 13.
Aurora Police detectives later learned Corral-Venegas, a former cop in Mexico, was accused of using a red motorcycle and pretending to be a courier before allegedly sexually assaulting numerous victims.
He was known by Mexican media as the “Motorized Rapist”.
According to court records, Corral-Venegas told police he lived in the same condominium complex as the victims and had a “duel personality.”
Corral-Venegas was charged with sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree burglary and two counts of violating a protection order, according to Arapahoe County Jail records.
A spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says Corral-Venegas is slated to be sentenced for his crimes sometime in March.
He is being held without bond.
The case against him remains open.
